BBC Radio 4 show You and Yours turned the focus onto key issues affecting the cleaning and hygiene sector on Thursday, 18 November.
The show featured interviews with two specialist cleaning operatives working for an agency delivering services in the healthcare sector before interviewing British Cleaning Council Chairman Jim Melvin.
Key themes which emerged included the severe shortage of staff affecting companies in the sector, the vital role played by the sector’s workforce, particularly during the pandemic, and demands for improved recognition and key worker status for cleaning operatives.
