Schemes to support cleaning, hygiene and waste businesses to train, develop and recruit staff in England include:
Adult Education Budget (AEB)
An AEB is available through many colleges and training providers, enabling fully and co-funded training options across many vocational areas, aimed at lifelong learning and skilling up the workforce.
In addition to the set funding, uplifts are paid in recognition of post code, age, prior learning and area vocational needs. Government-funded training includes practical cleaning skills, waste operative skills and infection prevention and control.

T Levels: Industry Placements
T Levels are for learners aged 16 to 19 in England who have finished their GCSEs. T Levels combine classroom learning with an industry placement. Your business can host an industry placement and support young people to get ready for the workplace.
Benefits for your business include:
- Building a talent pipeline for junior positions, apprenticeships and internships.
- Giving your existing staff the opportunity to gain management and mentoring skills.
- Training a young person with the skills your business needs.
As part of their course, every T Level student must complete an industry placement that lasts a minimum of 315 hours. You can work with another employer to host industry placements.
This is a free Government scheme, but you may have costs depending on the industry placement you host.
