Loo of the Year Awards Update

The Loo of the Year Awards have announced they have completed the inspection of thousands of washrooms throughout the UK, including many from new entrants, who are all competing for the accolade of ‘Loo of the Year.’

The inspection criteria is based on fitness for purpose from the user’s perspective including levels of cleanliness, type of facilities, accessibility, flexibility of use and legal compliance. Judges have also been looking at factors such as how attractive and inviting they are – and whether they have a ‘wow’ factor.

Last year the organisers also introduced a series of Washroom Cleaner of the Year Awards for England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, plus an overall winner for the UK and Ireland. These awards relate specifically to the dedicated cleaning staff that look after the facilities, rather than the washrooms themselves. Categories include Individual Cleaner, In-House Cleaning Team and External Contractor Team

Judging will be completed at the same time as the Loo of the Year Awards inspection, and any cleaning staff seen at the time of the unannounced visit will be deemed to represent the whole cleaning team.

Judging for all the awards and trophies will be completed during October, and the results will be announced at special awards ceremony on Friday 7th December at the St Johns Hotel in Solihull. For more details visit www.loo.co.uk
