For the past two and a half years the British Toilet Association has been working in partnership with members of the Changing Places Consortium to replace the current Changing Places Toilet Map, and have chosen World Toilet Day, Nov 19th to go live.
It’s a proud moment for the BCC as the Council awarded the BTA a £10,000 grant in 2013 to help the project get off the ground.
Members of both Mencap and Pamis have been instrumental in helping to create a new mapping database and delivery system that is easy to use and also contains vital information that everyone needs to find and access over 780 of these specialised units.
The BTA is responsible for creating and managing the new system while other partners will be ensuring that the information is up-to-date and accurate.
The new system will provide users with a faster search; greater accuracy to the actual toilet location and opening hours. The introduction of a trip planner will greatly help carers and support groups plan for extended journeys. The new map will also produce an accurate database which will show where provision is low or lacking, and where new sites are needed.
The Toilet Map can be used on PC, Laptop, Tablet and various Mobile devices.
