GSA Supervisor of the Year Award Goes North

GSA-Winner1The cleaning industry’s most glittering awards were held at the Hilton on Park Lane in London on Friday, and the winner of the BCC’s ‘Site Supervisor of the Year Award’ says she was ‘completely overwhelmed’ to have won.

Cara Galloway, who is supervisor at The Rock Shopping Centre in Bury, says she was proud to be named as a finalist, but couldn’t actually believe it when she heard her name read out on stage in front of the hundreds of assembled guests.

It was a double celebration for her team, as The Rock were also awarded with the ‘Best Cleaned Premises in a Shopping Mall’.

Cara started as a cleaning operative just five years ago and worked her way up to being site supervisor, a job she admits she loves.

She said: “I knew I wanted to be a supervisor right from when I first started at The Rock. It shows what can be achieved with hard work, determination, and good training.”

BCC Chairman, Simon Hollingbery, presented Cara with the award on the stage at the Hilton, and praised her dedication.

He said: “The BCC takes great pleasure sponsoring this individual award, as it highlights personal excellence that not only rewards the individual winners and their company, but also acts as a spur for others who want to achieve excellence”

The ceremony was hosted by top comedy impressionist, Jon Culshaw, and organisers say it was the best attended GSA in the history of the event.
